mEye ™ a ground-breaking home-monitoring service launched at MSC ICT Fair 2005 enables mobile access to home web cams.

7 September 2005

MSC ICT Fair 2005, PENANG - Potentially changing the daily habits of 250,000 people in Penang and soon two million people in the Klang Valley, mobile pioneer iNavigate Sdn Bhd announces the market trial launch of mEye™ a home monitoring service which links users of regular colour-screen mobile phones with their home web cams, anywhere, at any time of the day. True to its name, mEye™ provides users a live video 'eye' to their families at home through their mobile phone and will be available to all visitors at MSC ICT Fair 2005 in Penang.

mEye™ (pronounced emm eye) is a very simple and inexpensive home monitoring solution. Accessed primarily through a very straight-forward user-interface using WAP over GPRS/EDGE/3G networks, the technical requirements to use mEye™ are very modest: a web cam, computer, broadband internet and a mobile phone. This makes it the cheapest "ready-to-go" home-monitoring solution for millions of householders in Malaysia.

For most users, the service can be setup within 5 minutes and provide live video clips and still-image access to the situation inside or outside their home, from the office, the car or wherever they are during the day.

Typically, new users will:
1.register at the mEye web site (http://www.meye.com.my),
2.download and install a very light mEye application on their PC and then
3.login at the WAP site (http://www.meye.com.my/wap) to confirm and activate their first camera.

This easy-to-use and inexpensive service, which utilizes equipment many users already have at home, has the potential to change the daily habits of millions of office workers, commuters and parents.

As iNavigate CEO, Mr KK Lim explains, mEye™ fills important needs of security, convenience and peace of mind by letting office workers literally see their family any time during the day. With mEye? parents can also verify if the kids are home from school yet, and householders can check up on the maids too.?

"For people who have a PC in their house or apartment and who regularly go out, whether to the office, shopping or just picking up the kids from school, mEye™ finally empowers them to utilize the visual capabilities of their computer through their mobile phone very inexpensively and without having to buy new hardware."

The accessibility extends beyond the simple hardware requirements to the video and still-image content delivered in near real-time to the mobile phone, with no additional software installed on the mobile device.

iNavigate’s CTO, Mr Joseph Yeong, explains that "The 10 second video clips delivered by mEye™ are typically about 65Kb in size, which can be downloaded within a few seconds over most GPRS connections. This means that users can see their family at home within about 10 - 15 seconds of making the request."

Journalists covering the MSC ICT Fair 2005 are invited to attend a media briefing and demonstration on Thursday, September 8, 2005 at MSC Showcase Stage at 2pm. The briefing and demonstration will be attended by well-known industry pioneer and CEO of iNavigate, Mr KK Lim who will be available to answer questions. Journalists with colour-screen mobile phones and activated GPRS/EDGE/3G, will be able to try out mEye™ for themselves. You are also welcome to visit iNavigate at Booth S33 at the MSC Showcase Pavilions from 7 -11 of September.
